"Operation Isaiah" at Ahavath Achim Synagogue

“Operation Isaiah” is back for its 20th year. More than 30 metro Atlanta Jewish Congregations are coming together on Friday, September 17th from 6-7 p.m. at the Ahavath Achim Synagogue (600 Peachtree Battle Blvd. Atlanta).

Operation Isaiah was founded in 1990 by one of the city’s oldest and largest-member synagogues, Ahavath Achim.  Since then, the annual food drive has progressed into a citywide opportunity for Jewish residents to commemorate one of the most solemn periods in the Jewish calendar through giving and sacrifice.  Throughout its twenty-year history, Operation Isaiah has provided more than 600,00 pounds of food for the Alanta Community Food Bank.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank annually distributes over 20 million pounds of food and grocery products to more than 700 partner nonprofit organizations providing hunger relief in Metro Atlanta and North Georgia.

Congregants and volunteers are being asked to bring nonperishable food donations as they enter high holy services on the eve of Yom Kippur.
