ATLANTA -- Local bands will battle it out for a good cause on Friday, Feb. 28, when “Hope Grows: Battle of the Bands” tunes up in The Buckhead Theatre. Proceeds from the event, from 8-11 p.m., go to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA).

More than 100 teens from 10 Atlanta-area high schools are participating in the fundraiser, which features music, dinner provided by Chick-fil-A, and raffle prizes from the Atlanta Hawks, Woo Skincare & Cosmetics and more.

“I love it that high-school students from across the city have come together to support this one cause,” said Anne-Claire Pittman, co-president of the CHOA girlFriends group and an HIES senior. “Children's Healthcare of Atlanta has provided thousands of children in our city, state and country with exceptional and sometimes life-saving medical care.  I think it’s important to give back to something that gives so much to children in need, regardless of their family’s economic situation.”

The girlFriends group raises money for several CHOA efforts, including the Marcus Autism Center and the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit. Some $8,000 was raised in the group’s first year.

“We all know someone who has been treated or even saved at Children's,” said girlFriends Co-President Katherine Correll, also an HIES senior. “If anyone at Holy Innocents' were to get sick or injured, they would be taken to Children's. It's a really important place to Atlanta, to our community, and to me. And to see all of these high school girls come together to do whatever we can to help Children's means the world."

Holy Innocents’ members of the girlFriends leadership board this year, in addition to Anne-Claire and Katherine, are: Josie Barton, Emma Grace Harrell, Olivia Kushel, Caroline McClatchey, Emily Snellings, and Whitney Weiss.

Tickets for the Battle of the Bands are $75 each or $100 a couple, which includes dinner. To register, visit giving.choa.org/battleofthebands.
