Souther Lady Conference at the Grand Hyatt-Buckhead, November 5-7th

Southern lifestyle magazine, Southern Lady, will bring the pages of the publication to life with the eighth annual Southern Lady Celebration weekend in Atlanta, Georgia.

"Make A Wish" Family Day, November 6th

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia has partnered with Atlanta-based Novelis, the world leader in aluminum rolled products and beverage can recycling.   Novelis has donated $200,000 to the foundation to be used to grant wishes and $50,000 for event sponsorships, representing the single largest corporate gift to date for the Make-A-Wish chapter.

In its 16th year, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia and Alabama has granted nearly 5000 wishes.  Eighty-three percent of all funds raised are used for granting wishes to children.

Novelis will celebrate the partnership by inviting several wish families and Make-A-Wish board members to join them in a family day event at their new facility at 3560 Lenox Road in Atlanta.   The event is scheduled for Saturday November 6, from 11:00am-1:00pm.

2010 Chastain Park Arts Festival, November 6th-7th

The 2010 Chastain Park Arts Festival which will take place on November 6-7th on the north side of Chastain Park. This annual festival works to uphold the highest standards supporting the arts, and offer participating artists the environment to nurture appreciation for their skills. This year’s event will benefit a select local charity or scholarship which supports the arts, to be named prior to the event.

Organizers anticipate approximately 100 to 125 participating artists and artisans, covering a wide range of creative artistic disciplines. This event is free to attend. Events include a movie night, pet parade and artist exhibition.

The Chastain Park Arts Festival will feature independent, fresh food vendors from all over Atlanta.  No alcohol may be brought into the Festival area. Beer and wine will be available for purchase at several locations throughout the Festival.

Curtains Up presents "Annie" at Onstage Atlanta

Non-profit performing arts company, Curtains Up, is inviting the community to see their production of Annie at Onstage Atlanta (2597 N Decatur Road, Decatur). Curtains Up mentors at-risk children and trains them to become confident and successful performers.

Annie will run beginning November 8 through November 13, 2010. Mary Stewart Sullivan, a Broadway performer, will star as the title role opposite Jennifer Salberg, founder of Curtains Up, as Miss Hannigan.

Jennifer started Curtains Up in 2004 and has since been successful with her outreach. In 2005, Mary Stewart, at the age of four, learned how theatre could be fun and philanthropic from “Ms. Jen”. This year, with the help of her Curtains Up background, Mary Stewart landed the role and played Jojo in Seussical with the Atlanta School of the Performing Arts.

Tickets for this event cost $10 for students and $15 for adults.

2010 Chastain Horse Park Rodeo, tomorrow 4-6 p.m.

This isn't Buckhead’s first rodeo, it's Buckhead's only rodeo and it happens this weekend. Join the people at Chastain Horse Park (4371 Powers Ferry Road, Atlanta) on Saturday, October 23, 2010, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. for a historic rodeo experience.

The Chastain Horse Park, originally Buckhead stables, occupies 13 acres of the City of Atlanta's Troy Chastain Memorial Park. Revived by Amy C. Lance in 1997, this park serves as a nonprofit equestrian facility, which services the community through therapeutic programs for students with mental or physical disabilities, programs for children from the inner-city and children at-risk, boarding services and riding lessons for the general public.

This weekend's rodeo will offer: Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, Team Roping, Rodeo Clown Entertainment, fun and games. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for children aged 5-11 and free for children 4 and under.

Brookhaven Arts Festival, this weekend

Celebrating its seventh year, the Brookhaven Arts Festival, returns to Apple Valley Road. Constant with their claim that they “bring communities together”, Brookhaven Bank will present this festival free of charge and it offers a little something for everyone.

On Saturday and Sunday, October 16th and 17th, the festival will be take place directly behind the Brookhaven-Oglethorpe MARTA station (between North Druid Hills and Dresden Drive). More than 125 juried artists will be displaying and marketing their fine arts.

Atlanta Food and Wine Festival Kick-Off Party

The Annual Atlanta Food and Wine Festival will celebrate the launch of ticket sales with a Backyard BBQ in Buckhead on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m.

The Atlanta Food & Wine Festival was created by Atlantans Dominique Love and Elizabeth Feichter, and is the first luxury festival dedicated exclusively to celebrating the rich food and drink traditions of the Southern region of the U.S. Tickets for the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival will go on sale on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010.

The BBQ kick-off will be hosted at a private residence in Buckhead.
