APICS appoints UHY Advisors’ David Lloyd to Board of Directors

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta APICS Chapter (Atlanta Association for Operations Management) has added UHY Advisors’ David Lloyd to its Board of Directors, where he will serve as Vice President of Administration.

The Atlanta Chapter of APICS has been serving Greater Atlanta and North Georgia since 1964. It is also one of the nation’s largest APICS chapters with over 600 members. The chapter provides operations & supply chain management education, fosters best practice sharing, networking, and professional development opportunities for members.

Lloyd is a Manager with UHY Advisors, which delivers professional financial, tax and business consulting services to companies ranging from mid-sized to Fortune 500 in size and complexity. He lives in the Midtown area of Atlanta.

ATLANTA -- On May 6, Turner Construction employees in Atlanta joined forces with partners around the world in a day of community service. More than 60 Atlanta Turner volunteers worked at Piedmont Park and at Action Ministries in honor of the company’s 113th anniversary and its long history of community engagement.

Turner employees worldwide organized volunteer and community partnership efforts under the umbrella of the company’s “Paint the Town Blue” initiative.

In Buckhead, Turner volunteers made and bagged 1,000 lunches and snack packs for children at Action Ministries, an organization that focuses on helping Georgians with hunger relief, housing and education.

ATLANTA -- Turner Construction, one of Atlanta’s top construction companies, has moved to a new 10,000-square-foot office at 3495 Piedmont Road, Suite 700, in the heart of Atlanta’s Buckhead business district. The new space offers collaborative advantages that are allowing the company to respond quickly to client needs as business growth accelerates.

The company’s new offices occupy the seventh floor at Eleven Piedmont Center, a PC Management Company facility. Jones Lang LaSalle worked with Turner to secure the deal. Across Turner’s system of 46 offices nationally, the company has been examining its space requirements to create more efficient environments for their employees.

“Turner has been growing steadily as the construction market continues to turn around post-recession,” says Mark Dent, Vice President & General Manager of Turner Atlanta. “This new space is fueling our growth, with a smaller, less expensive footprint.”

ATLANTA -- Morgan Stanley announced that Michael Merlin, a managing director and financial advisor in its wealth management office in Atlanta has been named to the firm’s prestigious Chairman’s Club, an elite group composed of the firm’s top financial advisors.

The appointment recognizes Michael’s consistent creativity and excellence in providing a wide range of investment products and wealth management services to his clients.

Michael, who has been with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management since 1998, is an Atlanta native. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University. Michael currently lives in Sandy Springs with his wife, Caren, and sons, Jonathan and Ryan.

Pike Nurseries Becomes an Employee-owned Company

Pike Nurseries management is pleased to announce the company has combined with Armstrong Garden Centers, its sister corporation in California, to operate under an established Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The plan transfers ownership to Pike Nurseries and Armstrong Garden Centers employees through a defined contribution benefit program.
