ATLANTA – (BBA) On Thursday, February 24, Sam Massell, President of the Buckhead Coalition, will speak at the Buckhead Business Association’s weekly breakfast and networking meeting (www.buckheadbusiness.org). The event is held at the City Club of Buckhead and starts at 7:30 AM.

Mayor Sam Massell is the founding president of the Buckhead Coalition, a nonprofit civic organization spearheaded by chief executive officers of major businesses in Buckhead. The Buckhead Coalition’s mission is to promote and nurture the quality of life and orderly growth of Buckhead.

“Mayor Massell’s annual address to the business men and women of Buckhead is an honor,” said Lolita B. Jackson, president of the BBA. “His ongoing support of the Buckhead community is difficult to rival and each year we look forward to hearing about his contributions to the city of Atlanta.”

Mayor Massell is a life-long resident of Atlanta, with successful careers in real-estate brokerage, elected office, tourism, and association management. In his twenty years as a Realtor, Massell became the vice president of Allan-Grayson Realty Company and was elected a charter member of the Atlanta Real Estate Board’s Million Dollar Club and was honored three times by the Georgia Association of Real Estate Boards for creating the “Outstanding Transaction of the Year.”

Serving twenty-two years in elected offices, Mayor Massell served as president of Atlanta’s board of Aldermen (now known as the City Council), Atlanta’s mayor, on the board of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, and was a member of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. Some achievements of his administration as mayor include establishing MARTA, Atlanta’s mass transit program and developing the city’s first enclosed arena, Omni Coliseum.

In addition to his work with the Buckhead Coalition, Mayor Massell is on numerous boards, including the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, Atlanta Historical Society, and Atlanta Speech School.

He has been recognized in the Atlanta Convention and visitors Bureau “Hospitality Hall of Fame,” Georgia Trend Magazine “Most Influential Georgians Hall of Fame,” and International Civil Rights Walk of Fame.”

The weekly BBA breakfast meeting, which is held at the City Club of Buckhead, takes place every Thursday from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. The City Club of Buckhead is located at 3343 Peachtree Road, Suite 1850.
