Local restaurants make 5 Make-a-Wish dreams come true

(WXIA) -- Diners at two metro Atlanta-based restaurant chains had a hand in making wishes come true for five very special children.

Throughout March and April, J. Christopher's and Reveille Café customers donated more than $47,000 to the Make-a-Wish organizations in Georgia and Middle Tennessee. Make-a-Wish grants surprises to children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

Thanks to the diners' generosity, Make-a-Wish was able to send five kids on trips of a lifetime:

Andrea, age 3
Hematologic (blood) disorder
Andrea got to go to Disney World and meet her idols -- Mickey and Minnie; Peter Pan and Tinkerbell; Pluto and Goofy.

Bryce, age 4
Wilms' tumor (kidney cancer)
Bryce got to fly on a plane to Disney World, ride the rides and meet Mickey Mouse.

Elijah, age 8
Respiratory condition
Elijah took an "absolutely awesome" trip to Disney World.

Morgan Stanley goes 'over the edge to benefit Special Olympics Georgia

Morgan Stanley goes 'over the edge to benefit Special Olympics Georgia

ATLANTA -- On Saturday, April 26, Michael Outlaw, Managing Director, Complex Manager at Morgan Stanley in Atlanta, was “tossed” over the edge of the Buckhead Tower. After training in the morning, Outlaw rappelled down the building. Over the Edge staff made sure they were safe on the roof and ground as spotters and helpers.

The event benefited Special Olympics Georgia and its 26,702 athletes. Morgan Stanley raised more than $5,000. For every $100 donated, one athlete is sent to the state games.

“We are very excited about supporting the Special Olympics and the athletes in our community,” explained Outlaw. “Morgan Stanley raised funds which earned the right to “toss” me and client associate Brittany Wilson over the edge. I’m delighted that our team efforts will send at least 50 athletes to the games.”

ATLANTA -- It's rare to find someone willing to complete so many Random Acts of Kindness at their own will, and on their own dime.

That's just what Amber Chance set her mind to. Just 71 days out from her grandmother's 70th birthday, she decided to complete 70 Random Acts of Kindness for strangers, coworkers, and friends to honor her grandmother.

Amber kept up with all of the Random Acts on her Facebook page, "Granny Rak," where friends and followers write on the page's wall to share their own Random Acts that they were drawn to complete. From bringing healthy snacks to coworkers, to leaving special cards for strangers, Amber's special project drew quite the following.
