Boyscout Troop 298 Volunteer at Buckhead's "Bring One for the Chipper"

According to the Fourth Ward Alliance, on January 8th, about 25 volunteers from Boyscout Troop 298 from the Northside Methodist Church in Buckhead helped Keep Atlanta Beautiful and Davey Tree Company recycle Christmas Trees at Atlanta Home Depots. Residents dropped off 125 trees at the two locations and received packets of organic garden seeds.

Since 1991, "Bring One for the Chipper," has collected over 5 million trees.  The program produces tangible environmental benefits while helping local governments comply with state regulations that prohibit the disposal of yard trimmings in lined municipal landfills.  The mulch from these trees has been used for playgrounds, local government beautification projects, and residential yards. The high quality, weed-free and pest-free mulch can be obtained for your large-scale landscaping project free of charge.

Contact Davey Tree Service at 770-451-7911 for more information.

City of Atlanta Asks Residents to Move Abandoned Cars for Road Treatment

City of Atlanta Asks Residents to Move Abandoned Cars for Road Treatment

The City of Atlanta is shifting its focus to clean neighborhoods and side streets of the snow/ice left over from the snow storm that came in on Sunday night.  We are asking the citizens of Atlanta to immediately remove their vehicle from the city streets (both legally parked/abandoned vehicles) so efforts can be made to clean the snow/ice off the roadway.

The equipment being used is heavy equipment; if vehicles are left on the roadway they may become damaged as these trucks are attempting to clean the roadway.

Those vehicles that were left abandoned by the owners who could not negotiate the snow/ice may result in the vehicle being towed from the roadway at the owner’s expense.
