Governor's Mansion Christmas tree comes from Conyers

CONYERS, Ga. -- The Christmas tree that will grace the lawn of the Governor's Mansion this year comes from Conyers.

The Georgia Building Authority selected a 40-foot red cedar from the grounds of the Georgia International Horse Park to be featured at the Buckhead mansion.

"We are thrilled that a tree from the Georgia International Horse Park was chosen for the governor's Christmas tree," Jennifer Bexley, director of the horse park, said in a statement. "Of all the trees in northeast Georgia that could have been selected, it's an honor that this tree came from Conyers and our world-class facility."

The tree was cut down Monday morning and transported to the Governor's Mansion. It will be lit during the Christmas at the Mansion celebration on Dec. 8.

The Home Depot plans to recycle the tree after Christmas.

ATLANTA --To kick off breast cancer awareness month, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s Terminus Branch in Atlanta wore pink and collected $2,785 in proceeds to benefit Bright Prink Organization. Wearing pink was also made easy as the firm sold ties and pins to honor Bright Pink’s mission of being the only national non-profit focused on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women (ages 18-45) while providing support for high-risk individuals.

Michael Outlaw, Managing Director and Buckhead Complex Manager located within the Terminus branch, encourages employees to give back to the community. “This is just one example of how Morgan Stanley’s employees step up and help charitable organizations. Our team’s positive energy and enthusiasm is contagious and we look forward to our continued effort of giving.”

Random Acts of Kindness: Amy Dinham

Random Acts of Kindness: Amy Dinham

ATLANTA -- Today's random act of kindness is for Amy Dinham.

Before having children, Amy was quite the regular client at Van Michael Salon in Buckhead.

Her first child, Harry, was born at 33 weeks and spent over a month in the NICU. A year later, Amy found out she was pregnant with twins who were also born early at 27 weeks and weighed only 2 pounds each.

Amy's twins spent time in the NICU as well, and a majority of the past few years have consisted of Amy traveling back and forth between the hospital, while also taking care of Harry.

During this time, Amy's main focus and priority has been her children's health, leaving very little time for her to treat herself.
