Random Acts of Kindness: Mimi Kuan

ATLANTA -- Today's Random Act of Kindness is for a deserving mother and friend.

Mimi Kuan is someone who always makes her co-workers smile. She works hard each and every day so her child has everything he needs. She's due for something nice to happen, and thanks to a friend at work 11Alive was able to give her a nice surprise.

Visit the Georgia Mountains

Visit the Georgia Mountains

Have you ever driven through the Georgia Mountains? It is an amazing experience. The drive to Helen through the mountains is breath taking. You have to be comfortable driving around curves and getting a little light headed now and then, but the view is picture perfect every single mile. Then once you get down to Helen, make sure to take your appetite with you because the food is delicious and the sceneray is a place you want to make sure you take in.

The last time I went down to Helen we went Horse Back Riding and Tubing. The tubing was even $5. Fun for $5. That is what I always look for, or free if I can get it.

In addition to Helen, there are literally hundreds of awesome spots in the North Ga. Mountains that so few people know about. Small Ma & Pop owned diners, cabin rentals, specialty campgrounds and much more. Stop by and see what to do in the North Ga Mountains.

As part of the time capsule, the library staff asks for Atlanta and Fulton County residents to give small items, those that can be parted with for around two years. Those donations are due August 1, and the capsule will close the next day. All ages can participate.

Random Act of Kindness: Jim Ernst

Random Act of Kindness: Jim Ernst

BUFORD, Ga. -- Today we're celebrating a deserving father who is overdue for a Random Act of Kindness.

For months, Jim Ernst has been saving money for a mountain bike. Lately, due to unexpected medical bills and car repairs, he's been unable to put money towards one. Jim is an amazing father who not only works overtime, but also takes cares of the kids and the home.

Right now, Jim is borrowing bikes from friends just so he can ride 1-2 times per week. Just recently, he was able to afford a bike rack for his car, so now all he's missing is the bike itself.

Thanks to a tip from his wife Rachel, and a generous donation from Peachtree Bikes, 11Alive was able to give Jim a big gift.
