Teachers implicated in APS cheating could lose licenses

ATLANTA -- The state agency that licenses teachers is expected to begin investigating Atlanta Public Schools educators caught up in a test cheating scandal.

COMPLETE COVERAGE: APS CRCT Investigation

The Georgia Professional Standards Commission will meet Wednesday and Thursday to vote on whether to look into some of the nearly 180 educators accused in the scandal. An investigation made public in July showed widespread cheating in nearly half of the district's 100 schools dating as far back as 2001.

The educators are no longer in classrooms - some have quit or retired while others are on paid leave. But all could lose their teaching licenses or have their certification suspended with the state.

The commission is not expected to discuss the cases publicly.
