DISNEY CHANNEL'S FIRST NATIONAL DANCE TALENT SEARCH COMES TO MALL OF GEORGIA SAT JULY 23

Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off – 'Shake It Up' edition," Disney Channel's first national dance talent search just for kids, hosted by AT&T U-verse, will make its mark at Mall of Georgia in Buford, Georgia. Kids ages 8-16, with the consent of a parent, will have the opportunity to show off their dance skills and record a dance video onsite for online submission for a chance to compete in a dance off to air on Disney Channel in October 2011. The grand prize includes a special guest dance spot on "Shake It Up" plus the chance to meet the cast. Fans and dance enthusiasts are invited to come down and participate in a Q&A with Roshon Fegan.

Back-to-school drive benefitting Metro Atlanta children in need

ATLANTA -- For over 80 years, Variety of Georgia’s mission has been to aid and enhance the lives of children in need who may be challenged by physical and/or mental disabilities, poverty, abuse or neglect.

Now through Tuesday, August 2, Variety of Georgia and Atlanta-area Simon malls will team up to collect back-to-school supplies for disadvantaged youth in the Metro-Atlanta area, giving young students the ability to enter a new school year full of hope.

School supply donations are welcomed at the following Atlanta malls: Gwinnett Place, Lenox Square, Mall of Georgia, Northlake Mall, Phipps Plaza and Town Center at Cobb.

Local Art Gallery, Author and Miss America Bring the Story of Rwanda Alive in African Exhibit

 

The story of any culture is found in the artwork of its people.  Humanitarian and Author, Linda Cox has partnered with Kirsten Halgund, a humanitarian and media personality also crowned Miss America 2008 to bring the experience of the beautiful culture of Rwanda to Emerging Art Scene Gallery in Castleberry Hill in an exhibit called MARKET RWANDA.  Set for Sunday,  July 31st from 4pm – 7pm, the market will include a distinctive collection of  beautiful handmade jewelry, home décor and a book signing complete with a brief video and storytelling about the author’s Rwandan friends, Simon & Kedress Nziramakenga who are also characters in the author’s children’s book, They Had to Run.

Atlanta, GA…The native Atlanta rapper, Bone Crusher, will be launching the first in the “Taking Back Our Future Series” of fundraisers for Boys2Men Home and Sanctuary for Youth. B2M is an organization dedicated to empowering young males by teaching positive and productive life skills during their journey to manhood. Bone Crusher is the guest speaker as well as the headlining performer of the event.

 

Wayne Hardnett Jr., or Bone Crusher as he is better known, grew up in Adamsville (southwest Atlanta). He worked odd jobs as a cook, a carpenter and a bodyguard for several artists until his job at Black Marketing Entertainment. Lil’ John introduced Hardnett to Jermaine Dupri and he was immediately put on his record label So So Def in 2003. His first album AttenCHUN! topped at number 11 on music charts with his hit single “Never Scared” featuring T.I. and Killer Mike.
