Woman accused of stealing PTA money surrenders

ATLANTA -- A woman accused of stealing $57,000 from a Buckhead elementary school's Parent-Teacher Association has surrendered to police.

Maryam Arjomand turned herself in to detectives Monday after police said she stole the funds from the East Rivers Elementary School PTA.

The 48 year old is accused of depositing the donated money into her personal account. She has been charged with felony theft by taking.

Arjomand is being held in the Fulton County Jail.

A PTA spokeswoman said Arjomand was a member of the school's PTA.
