Moore's Mill Road Now Open
News

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Watershed Management says repairs have been made to a 30-inch water main that has been leaking for weeks beneath Moore's Mill Road NW, a major thoroughfare for commuters in North Atlanta.

Janet Ward with the Watershed Department says the road is now open.

Commuter Dude first found out about the issue two weeks ago, after residents complained about an unfinished road repair. Moore's Mill has been closed and crews have been working around the clock since the latest round of repairs began Saturday.

Early Tuesday, workers were struggling to stop a leak between a newly manufactured coupling and the 60-year-old pipe. Engineers at the scene said they were having trouble sealing the water-tight connection because it's being placed between concrete and steel pipes.

Late Tuesday night, crews from Atlanta Watershed Management completed bolting the new seal on the old section of pipe. They immediately began filling the repaired line with water, slowly building up the pressure to normal, hoping the seal holds, this time.
