Action Ministries, 11Alive to feed 400 children | News
ATLANTA -- Representatives from a local nonprofit will visit 11Alive's Midtown studio Wednesday to make lunches for 400 local children.
Action Ministries, a statewide nonprofit that leads communities and volunteers in serving their neighbors in need by providing hunger, housing and education solutions, has created a new program called "Smart Lunch, Smart Kid."
The program is designed to fill the summer void for children who rely on free or reduced-price lunches during the school year.
Children are referred to the program through their schools, churches and social workers. Participating families live in Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, Fayetteville, Gainesville, Jackson, Rome and Tucker.
Action Ministries representatives joined 11Alive employees on Wednesday to make the lunches, which will be delivered to the children in need on Thursday.
