Atlanta releases TSPLOST wish list
News

ATLANTA -- On Tuesday night, Atlanta officials released a detailed wish list of
transportation-related projects that could happen if the TSPLOST passes on July 31.

If the 1 percent sales tax and traffic referendum is approved, the city of Atlanta could reap an estimated $94 million over the next decade.

The city plans to use the money on improvements to busy roads and intersections, making city parks like Grant and Chastain more bike-friendly and creating pedestrian-friendly sections in congested areas.

City officials say this project list was compiled after extensive planning. About 85 percent of TSPLOST funds would be earmarked for larger regional projects that were outlined last fall, including:

  • $600 million to MARTA for basic capital improvements
  • $600 million to Atlanta for the BeltLine and Streetcar network
  • $100 million to Clayton County to restart its bus network

To give feedback on the TSPLOST proposals, call Atlanta City Hall's Bureau of Planning at (404) 330-6145 or email your comments by June 19.
