Buckhead Atlanta's Louboutin store burglarized

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police are investigating a smash-and-grab burglary at a high-end shoe store in the Buckhead Atlanta shopping center on Peachtree Road.

Atlanta Police Capt. Terrell Griffin said the thieves struck the Christian Louboutin store at around 2 a.m. Wednesday. About 15 suspects threw rocks at the shop's window to get inside.

Between 20 and 30 handbags, valued at $60,000, and several single shoes on display were taken.

Griffin said a black Dodge Challenger believed to be used in the burglary was recovered and is being processed. The car was found in the 2500 block of Ethridge Drive in northwest Atlanta and was "smoking from being driven so hard," according to a police report. Four other vehicles -- a silver Ford Edge, a gray Hyundai Sonata, a silver Ford Equinox and a silver Cadillac -- were also involved in the crime; the search continues for those cars.

Investigators are now reviewing surveillance video and working to identify the suspects.

Officials with Buckhead Atlanta Security said there were at least seven officers on duty near the store, but they were unarmed. The suspects ignored their commands and plowed into the store.
