Suspects in possible home invasion pose as Ga. Power workers
News

ATLANTA -- Police in Atlanta are investigating a possible home invasion involving suspects who posed as Georgia Power workers.

According to Kim Jones of the Atlanta Police Department, the incident happened Wednesday morning at an apartment complex. There were no injuries and police are gathering more details.

In response to the report, Georgia Power said they are working with police in the investigation. Georgia Power spokesperson John Kraft said that the company does not send employees in the field to collect payments and will not ask a customer to pay anywhere other than a business office or authorized payment location.

If a Georgia Power employee visits a customer's home, they will always be in uniform and present a badge with their name, photo and the Georgia Power name and logo. They will also be in a company-marked vehicle.

If a customer is suspicious of someone posing as a Georgia Power employee, they are urged to call 911 immediately. They can also call Georgia Power at 1-888-660-5890 to verify the employee's ID. Other tips include:
