Atlanta police investigating latest Buckhead home invasion

ATLANTA -- Atlanta police are investigating the latest in a string of brazen home invasions. Early Sunday morning, two suspects robbed a couple at their home on Blackland Rd. in Buckhead.

According to police, one of the victims was in his garage when the criminals hit, forcing him inside at gunpoint and awakening his sleeping girlfriend.

"These two individuals snuck up on him, took him in the house, awakened his girlfriend, threw them in a closet, threatened their lives while they ransacked the house," said Atlanta Police Sgt. Greg Lyon.

Police said at least one of the victims was assaulted; both were left in the closet and told to count to 300 before coming out.

Are Buckhead, Roswell home invasions related?

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police say they're working with Roswell investigators to figure out if the same gunmen suspected in two Buckhead home invasions are also responsible for a strikingly similar incident in Roswell.

There are at least three cases now where the victims in upscale neighborhoods were robbed at gunpoint and forced to drive to an ATM. Atlanta police say the same brazen thieves may have started in Atlanta, then moved on to Roswell.

Tyler Perry's Atlanta mansion hits the market


ATLANTA -- Entertainment mogul Tyler Perry's home has officially hit the market.

The 34,688 square foot, 17 acre mansion comes with a price tag of a cool $25 million.

With access to the Chattahoochee River, the amenities of the home include a resort-style infinity swimming pool, lighted tennis court and an underground ballroom.

The mansion also includes seven bedrooms and 11.5 bathrooms

The estate includes its own generator, guard house and Presidential-level security to help the future owner's peace of mind owning such a gigantic property.

Theft investigation at Arthur Blank's mansion

ATLANTA (WXIA) -- The Atlanta Police Department is currently investigating a reported theft that occurred at the Atlanta Falcons owner, Arthur Blank's mansion.

Monday evening the police was called to West Paces Ferry Road Northeast residence in regards to a possible theft that included multiple items.

According to the police report, three Apple iPads worth approximately $2,500 a piece, and two Rolex watches worth approximately $56,000 to $120,000 a piece were reported missing from the home.

The caller, Debra Fay Copeland stated that the iPads were last seen at the residence Sunday evening when one of the kids in the home went to look for one of the iPads and could not find it.

Police: Buckhead home invasions may be related


ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police are investigating the possibility that two recent Buckhead home invasions are related.

The first break-in happened Jan. 31 at a house on Paces Ridge Road. The second occurred May 25 in the 3700 block of Paces Ridge Road, near Mount Paran Road.

In both instances, gunmen forced the homeowners to take cash out of an ATM, then stole jewelry and other valuables.

Car flips, lands upside down in Buckhead parking deck

ATLANTA -- A woman is expected to recover after flipping her car in Buckhead Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at around 4 a.m. at the Darlington Apartments in the 2000 block of Peachtree Road.

Investigators said the woman's silver Honda Accord traveled down an embankment and landed upside down in a parking garage.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital.

The accident is under investigation.


APD: Man shot outside Lenox Mall

ATLANTA -- 11Alive has confirmed that one person was hurt in a shooting outside of Lenox Square in Atlanta on Sunday.

The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. in front of the Macy's department store.

The victim, a male in his 20s was shot in the leg.Officials said he was alert, conscious and breathing after being shot. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Police said the victim was shot after getting into an argument with a man over a woman he met on Instagram.

The suspect fled in a silver or gray truck driven by a white woman, police said.

A witness on the scene gave police the suspect's name, according to Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones. The name was not released.
