Atlanta's Celebrity Hair Stylist Derek J discusses new business endeavors & false sex change rumors

ATLANTA -- Derek J, owner of J Spot Salon, recently has been seen on Atlanta news channels, reality television and gossip blogs across America. This celebrity hair stylist has taken his talents from an elite salon in Buckhead to highly rated reality shows including Real Housewives of Atlanta. In a sit down with Reinchild, Derek J spoke about his new endeavors and discussed recent sex change rumors.

Derek J's entrepreneurship journey began when one day when he arrived to work only to find out that his boss had moved the salon without his knowledge. Left with a major decision, he opened J Spot Salon in 2008. With over 10 years of experience, his name has become creditable and his celebrity clientele has increased in numbers. He stands by his motto (which has obviously worked for him); "Don't be good at everything but be good at what you do!

Derek J understands that with the celebrity status comes drama. He laughs about recent rumors (seen on major gossip blogs) that he has had a sex change. (Which is NOT true!) Recent photos of Derek J dressed in drag were from his special drag appearance at a popular Atlanta hot spot.  He says that you can't please everyone and people talked about him in heels, they had an issue when he wore a suit and even comment on his weight. His weight is the least of his worries and says that he likes being thick but a size 10 is an appropiate size for him. Derek J says that he is enjoying the perks of being seen on television, including engaging with fans and having kind words for everyone even those that take to Twitter to send harsh tweets.

Derek J stands firm behind his business and the Atlanta gay community. His new foundation B.I.G. (Black Influential Gays), will allow young gay men to have mentors and a community to embrace their choices. He feels that young gay men think that they have to act feminine when they come out of the closet and he wants to shed light on the masculine side of homosexuality.  Derek J wants to show young gays that being gay does not  necessarily mean you have to embrace femininity.

Derek J is also the front runner for his new hair line I Hair. With him being the face of the black hair world, he feels confident in his latest endeavor. While managing his salon, Derek J still can be seen behind a chair styling. His ideal client is one that is flexible, open minded and ready for a dramatic change.

Derek J has a bright future and even his short term goals are sure to make major noise nation wide.
