Singer Ray Lavender stars in new Tyler Perry play

ATLANTA-- Atlanta resident, Ray Lavendar has been on the move and his hustle is about to get a kick start in the right direction.

While on tour with Tyler Perry’s new play “Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned,” Ray chatted on the phone in between play rehearsal and tending to his busy schedule. Ray Lavendar plays, Victor; the good guy; who is engaged to the lead’s sister. Linking with Tyler Perry has been a long time coming and once his schedule freed up working on Tyler’s latest stage play became a reality for Ray. With a simple phone call from Tyler Perry’s office, Ray has taken his career in a new direction. The play will be out for five months and Ray is thankful for over 100 play dates. Ray loves being under the leadership of Tyler Perry and he appreciates his words of encouragement. Tyler told Ray, “You were chosen for a reason. You have to do something!”

Singing is Ray’s passion and he feels that this is his favorite to do in contrast to acting. His single, So Cold, has received a lot of national attention and now being played abroad on radio stations. With being under Universal Republic label, Ray is anxious to create more classics that will receive the attention needed. For the past years, Ray has been an artist but now he is stepping into business man shoes.

Ray’s schedule is unlike the normal but he keeps his morning routine of prayer and working out, even while out on tour with the play. Having a clear mind is essential because he has to focus on his job. Working hard has been his motto and pushing beyond the competition is clearly working for him.

Rising above the negativity that comes from being in the music industry has been a challenge for Ray Lavender. He has lost friends in the transition but right now he is remembering how his so-called friends turned their back when things weren’t all glitz and glamour and how that hurt has helped to cultivate the man he is right now.

Ray is anticipating sending a year on the road with Tyler Perry and extended an invitation for the Atlanta date.
