10 priciest Atlanta neighborhoods for rent

ATLANTA -- Apartments in Atlanta's Buckhead Village neighborhood are commanding the highest rents in the city for a two-bedroom apartment, according to apartment rental company ApartmentList.com.

The average rent price for a two-bedroom apartment in the Buckhead Village neighborhood in December was $1,890 a month, according to the San Francisco-based company.

The other areas of the city with the most expensive rents for a two-bedroom apartment, according to the company, are:

2. Inman Park - Average $1,830.

3. Midtown - Average 1,820.

4. Atlantic Station – Average $1,790.

ATLANTA -- A piece of Atlanta history is on the market.

And a seven-figure sum can land you a home unlike any other.

"This house was built in 1839," said Ben Hirsh, the realtor aiming to sell it. "It is the oldest home in Atlanta, and I have yet to have anyone come forward with anything older."

The home is located at 1450 West Wesley Avenue. Its age? At least 175 years old.

"The mantle and fireplace bricks are all original," said Hirsh. "The wood siding is original, all the way across the front. The shutters, which have 180 years of paint on them, are original."

But perhaps most impressive is that this 'oldest home in Atlanta' was built 70 miles north, in the small town of Resaca.

"Driving Miss Daisy" home on the market for $1.95 million

ATLANTA -- Twenty-three years ago, this month, Atlanta was the focus of the Academy Awards when "Driving Miss Daisy" won "Best Picture.

The film was written by Pulitzer prize winning Atlanta playwright Alfred Uhry who grew up in the Druid Hills area.

The story deals with the relationship between an elderly Jewish woman and her African-American chauffeur after World War II.

And as of today, the home from the movie, which forever linked Atlanta to Hollywood is, now, up for sale and it's going to the highest bidder.

To some, the home is as defining as Jessica Tandy & Morgan Freeman and as unforgettable as Alfred Uhry's words.
