Why do restaurateurs lease space where previous restaurants failed or closed?

Why do restaurateurs lease space where previous restaurants failed or closed?

Expert discusses pros and cons for taking over a shuttered restaurant space

Restaurants fail for numerous reasons: food quality, atmosphere, service, pricing, high COGS versus percentage of revenue, marketing, and of course location.

Many failed restaurant owners like to point the blame to the location only to be proven wrong when a restaurant succeeds in place of their failure, or to take comfort when another restaurateur joins them on the popular merry-go-round of restaurant failure.

We are all familiar with the properties around Buckhead, Midtown, and Downtown Atlanta where restaurants seem to changeover like the seasons (Glenn Hotel, Chima, Thirsty Dog Tavern, etc.).

So Good You Can Eat Off the Streets!

So Good You Can Eat Off the Streets!

Some of the best in the mean time in between time meals I’ve had were off the streets of New York and Miami! Food trucks are so convenient especially when you don’t have a lot of time to sit in and eat at a restaurant on your short yet valuable lunch break..you want to grab and smash!

I get so excited when I see food trucks popping up over Atlanta…they definately have a place here and if you’re not use to this type of eating…come down from your posh horse for a moment and indulge a little {I promise you won’t be disappointed}.

The picture above is a photo I snapped with my phone, of a few food trucks at The Next Cool Thing event.

FOOD REVIEW: Tin Can Fish House & Oyster Bar, Sandy Springs, GA

We’d been hearing good things about Tin Can Fish House & Oyster Bar for weeks and, being seafood lovers, we were dying to check it out.

Our time came however, at the end of a long day shopping and battling traffic for the last hour. To top it all off, the GPS left us in front of an Animal Clinic wondering how in the world with this type of technology it can still be so wrong? Fortunately, we called and they talked us down. Needless to say neither of us were in the best of moods when we walked in, but Ahmeed changed all of that.

FOOD REVIEW: Local Three Kitchen & Bar, Atlanta, GA

FOOD REVIEW: Local Three Kitchen & Bar, Atlanta, GA

Local Three is located on Northside Drive within a very nice set of office buildings and if not for the breadcrumb-like signs it’s doubtful we would have ever found this gem of a restaurant regardless of being at the address. Fortunately, someone’s utter genius realized that without additional signage we could not have found our way but their signs lead us right to the door and to true culinary bliss.

Many of our readers have asked “What’s planned for 2011?”. Our agenda is somewhat of an open book as I generally make it a habit to create a To-Do item on Foursquare so that I have it down somewhere.

Scheduling is extremely non-scientific but we do try to pick from the list and work it in with what area of town we may be that day. What is never revealed is what restaurant is being reviewed and when, although I try to always check... Get the Full List of 2011 Restaurants, Click Here!
