ATLANTA -- A routine trip to a convenience store for an energy drink turned out to be so much more for two Atlanta men.

Matthew Ritterback and Ryan Tatman decided to purchase a Georgia Lottery Mega Millions ticket during a visit to the Texaco Food Mart on Peachtree Road in Buckhead.

It turns out that was the right decision -- Ritterback and Tatman matched the first five numbers from the Sept. 21 drawing and won $250,000.

"I started screaming," Ritterback, a 35-year-old nurse, said about the moment he learned he'd won.

Tatman, a 38-year-old account executive, "squealed" when Ritterback gave him the good news.

"(Winning) doesn't happen the way you think it would," he said.

The two men claimed their prize Monday at Georgia Lottery headquarters. They said they plan on "having fun" with the money, and will use part of it to pay off their mortgage.
